Entrance

Located in Maslak, the entrance zone is defined by a controlled relationship between pedestrian movement and vehicular circulation.
Rather than relying on hard barriers, the separation is achieved through landscape—using planted buffers, level definition, and spatial depth to establish clear yet calm boundaries.

Pedestrian and vehicle paths are not fully interwoven; transitions occur only at carefully positioned crossing points. This limited permeability reinforces safety and legibility while preserving the continuity of each movement system. The result is an environment that feels ordered rather than fragmented.

Planting beds, linear water elements, and seating edges act as spatial filters, softening the presence of traffic without dissolving the distinction between zones. Material transitions in the ground plane further support this separation, guiding movement intuitively without visual clutter.

The entrance operates as a composed threshold: not a fully open plaza, but a deliberately structured arrival sequence that mediates Maslak’s urban intensity through landscape-driven spatial control.

Urban Garden Terrace II Alternative 1

Positioned above the intensity of the city, the project defines a calm urban landscape where architecture and nature operate as a single system.
Soft topography, integrated planting beds, and continuous seating elements shape a fluid ground plane that encourages pause, interaction, and informal use throughout the day.

Material transitions are deliberately restrained. Permeable surfaces, warm timber textures, and sculpted metal edges establish a tactile environment that responds to climate, movement, and time. Shade trees and layered vegetation moderate the microclimate while framing views toward the city beyond.

Rather than functioning as a conventional courtyard, the space acts as a shared urban terrace—an elevated commons where everyday routines unfold within a quieter, slower spatial atmosphere. The result is an environment that balances density with openness, offering a refined yet accessible public realm close to nature.

Urban Garden Terrace II Alternative 2

Conceived as a continuous rooftop landscape, the project transforms the upper level into an active extension of urban life.
Lightweight pergola structures, layered planting, and open-air programs establish a spatial rhythm that alternates between movement and rest.

The design prioritizes permeability—between built form and vegetation, shade and sunlight, social activity and retreat. Timber elements guide circulation and define gathering zones, while planting beds and water features soften edges and regulate the microclimate.

Rather than isolating functions, the layout allows different modes of use to coexist fluidly. Dining, working, meeting, and pausing unfold within the same spatial framework, connected by gentle transitions and human-scale proportions.

This elevated environment offers a deliberate distance from the city’s pace, not through separation, but through integration—where architecture frames nature, and nature recalibrates everyday urban experience.
